Two-time All-America football quarterback and three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Offensive Player of the Year Randy McKavish was one of six individuals included in the Slippery Rock University Athletic Hall of Fame’s 27th induction class in September 2010.

McKavish led The Rock to a PSAC-West title in all four of his collegiate seasons and guided the Green and White to three appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs. Behind his lead, The Rock compiled a 41-9 win-lost record between 1997-2000.

A finalist for the 2000 Harlon Hill Award presented to the top NCAA Division II football player in the nation, McKavish garnered All-America honors in 1998 and 2000 and earned three PSAC-West Offensive Player of the Year honors. He also collected three first-team All-PSAC-West citations and one second-team All-PSAC-West honor.

McKavish concluded his collegiate career as The Rock’s all-time leader in career passing attempts (1060), completions (523) and touchdown passes (59) and shared the school record for single-season pass attempts (282 as a sophomore in 1998). He also ranked second in single-season completions (150 as a senior in 2000) and touchdown passes (20 in 1998).

Following his final Rock game, McKavish was invited to play in and wound up as one of the MVPs of the 2001 Cactus Bowl, Division II all-star game played in Kingsville, Texas. He was subsequently selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League draft, but opted to forego further football competition to begin a pharmaceutical sales career with Merck & Co., Inc.

McKavish also lettered four seasons as a member of The Rock men's basketball team, for which he was a catalyst in a 1999-2000 conference runner-up finish.

A 1996 graduate of Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg and a 2000 SRU graduate, McKavish is currently a district sales manager for Merck and resides in Midlothian, Va., with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children.
