Rock wins one, drops two in Chatham Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Rock won one and lost two Saturday in the Chatham University Invitational.

SRU defeated Frostburg State of Maryland by a 173-73 score and lost to Chatham 204-78 and Washington & Jefferson 189-80 in its first dual-meet action of the season.

The highest finish recorded by The Rock was a second-place effort in the 400-yard freestyle relay by the quartet of Merideth Grusek, Lauren Hervatin, Katie Pietkiewicz and Raquel Woerner. Their time was 4:01.62.

Freshman Amanda Lancki placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.07 and Maureen Moran finished third in the one-meter diving with 163.60 points to lead The Rock's individual efforts.

Lancki also placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:33.21. Teammate Lindsay Moyer was fifth in the event at 2:36.23.

Hervatin finished fourth i nthe 200 freestyle with a time of 2:07.42 and was fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:46.27.

Kaitlin Kaulius finished fifth in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:35.24 and Woerner was fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of27.30.

The 400 medley relay team of Lancki, Grusek, Hervatin and Woerner placed fifth with a time of 4:30.84.

The Rock is idle until Nov. 21-22, when it will compete in the Indiana (Pa.) Invitational.
