Hilton Head Island, S.C.- The Rock continued their spring break winning streak with an 8-1 win over Upper Iowa University.
The Rock went 2-1 in doubles play and 6-0 in singles action to take the match 8-1. The win moves SRU to 12-1 on the year and a perfect 6-0 to conclude their spring break competition.
SRU's No. 1 doubles team of Kayla Blackburn and Laura Handy won an 8-5 decision, the No. 2 duo of Samantha Blackburn and Jessica Hilborn won an 8-6 decision and the No. 3 team of Lara Rizzi and Chelsea Gibson suffered the only loss of the day dropping the match 8-3.
K. Blackburn won her No. 1 singles match winning 6-0, 6-0. Handy won at No. 2 by 6-3, 6-0 scores. S. BLackburn won the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-0. Hilborn won in the No. 4 match winning 6-2, 6-1.
Rizzi took the No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-3 and Gibson finished off the day with a win in the No. 6 singles match by 6-0, 6-2 scores.
The Rock will travel back up North to take on Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe, ShippensburgUniversity. The match is sceduled for March 29, at 3 p.m. in Shippensburg, Pa.
