Beth Choike scored two goals Friday night to lead The Rock effort in a 7-4 loss to Mercyhurst in the Morrow Field House pool.

Ashley Goodwill and Heather Walbright each added one goal for The Rock (3-12).

The Rock returns to action Saturday when it travels to Grove City for a noon match vs. the Wolverines.

SRU trailed by a 3-1 score at the end of the first period Friday night and was never able to close the gap to less than two goals thereafter. The Lakers held a 5-3 lead at the first half and a 6-4 lead at the end of the third quarter before it scored the game's final goal with 56 seconds left to play.

In addition to their goals scored, Choike had two caused kickoutsl; Goodwill had two caused kickouts and Walbright had one caused kickout.

Rock goalie Lauren Surbaugh was credited with 18 saves.

SRU concludes a string of three Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division games in as many days with a 9 a.m. contest Sunday vs. the Indiana Hoosiers.
