WALNUT, Calif. -- Rock junior Jennifer Hansen earned her fourth U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honor Friday when she placed third in competition at the NCAA Division II national championships.
Hansen's best height of 12 feet, 10.25 inches matched the one recorded by Grand Valley State's Diannan Noonan, but Noonan earned the higher finish based on criteria.
Minnesota State-Moorhead's Jennifer Hensel won the event with a vault of 13-2.25.
Hansen was the national runner-up behind Hensel a year ago in the outdoor national competition and placed third in last winter's indoor national meet. She earned her first All-America honor with an 11th-place finish in the 2006 outdoor meet.
Hansen was one of two Rock female student-athletes who competed Friday. Jennifer Harpp recorded the 16th best time in the 5,000-meter run and failed to earn a berth in Saturday's national finals.
Hansen's third-place national finish, coupled with an eighth-place finish Thursday by
Nicole Blaesser i the 10,000m run, gave SRU seven points in the team standings, which was good for 16th place.
The Rock will have one representative in Saturday's final day of action in the national championships.
Whitney Hendershot will vie for top honors in the high jump, which is set to start at 5:45 p.m. Pacific time.
