Whitney Hendershot earned her second U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honor of the 2007-08 season Saturday when she placed fourth in the high jump competition at the NCAA Division II national championships.
Hendershot's best height of 5-8 was 1.25 inches shy of the mark reached by three other competitiors.
Based on criteria, Notoya Thompson of Lincoln edged out Chelsea Morse of Lock Haven and Ashley Roemer of Minnesota State-Moorhead for the national title.
Hendershot earned her first All-America honor with a 5-7.25 leap and fifth-place finish in the indoor national championships March in Mankato, Minn.
She was the third Rock female student-athlete to earn All-America status during this year's outdoor national championships.
Jennifer Hansen placed third in the pole vault competition while
Nicole Blaesser finished eighth in the 10,000-meter run.
The three top-eight individual finished earned SRU 12 points and a 22nd place finish -- the highest recorded by a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference squad -- in the national championship team standings.
