Drmac, Handy lead Rock effort at PSAC Individual Championships
Dunja Drmac and Laura Handy both advanced to the second round of singles competition in the two-day tournament

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Dunja Drmac and Laura Handy each advanced to the second round of competition to lead the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team's effort in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Individual Championships hosted by Shippensburg University.

Drmac defeated Katie D'Ambrosia of East Stroudsburg by a 6-1, 6-1 score in opening-round action before she fell by 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 scores to Katie Eaton of Indiana in the second round.

Handy, meanwhile, won a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Ridhima Borooah of Kutztown in the opening round before she fell by a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 score to California's Anastassiya Zherdeva in the second round.

Drmac and Handy, after getting a first-round bye, lost an 8-5 second-round decision to Indiana's Chloe Pike and Emilia Osborne in doubles competition.

The only other Rock entry in the two-day competition was Chelsea Gibson, who lost a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) decision to Jamie Ferrigno of East Stroudsburg in the opening round of singles action.

The PSAC Individual Championships were the final competition of The Rock's fall schedule. SRU finished the fall with a 3-1 record in dual-match action.
