SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.—The Slippery Rock University volleyball team dropped a thrilling 3-2 match against Gannon Friday night at Morrow Field House. The Rock is now 7-24 overall and 3-15 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. 

Gannon, now 21-8 overall and 12-6 in the PSAC, clinched a playoff birth with the 25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 25-27, 15-8 win. The Golden Knights had match point on two separate occasions in the fourth set, but The Rock fought back to force the match to a fifth set. 

When the two teams switch sides of the court, Gannon held an 8-4 lead and would not let it go to take the match. 

Sophomore Kaylee Smith led SRU with 14 kills and added 10 digs. Junior Marissa Balmert recorded nine kills and led the team with four total blocks. Junior Anna Bixler led the team with 20 assists, and Kim Wilson added 17 assists. Senior Stacey Domer led The Rock with 23 digs. 

The Rock returns to action for the final time this season on Saturday at Morrow Field House against Edinboro. The match is set to start at 2 pm.
