Rock women fourth at Regionals

The Rock women's cross country team finished fourth at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships Saturday in Mansfield. Jen Harpp placed fourth overall to earn a trip to the NCAA National Championships.

MANSFIELD, Pa.
– The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team placed fourth at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships Saturday in Mansfield. Jen Harpp qualified for the National Championship meet to lead The Rock effort.

Slippery Rock posted a total of 135 points to finish third. Shippensburg won the team title with a final score of 86 points. Kutztown placed second with 100 points and Bloomsburg finished third with 120 points. Shippensburg and Kutztown will represent the region at the National Championships.

Harpp led The Rock with a fourth-place finish, earning her a trip to the National Championships as an individual. She covered the 6,000-meter course at Mansfield's Lambs Creek course in a time of 20:58.

Joining Harpp in earning All-Region honors, an accolade assigned to the top-15 finishers, was Crystal Burnick. Burnick placed 10th in a time of 22:04.

Abby Michaelian narrowly missed All-Region honors with an 18th-place finish in a time of 22:24.

Jennifer Pace was the fourth Rock finisher, placing 48th in a time of 23:20. Caitlin Hancox rounded out the scorers with a 55th-place finish in a time of 23:34.

Harpp will finish her season on Nov. 21 at the National Championships, hosted by Southern Indiana.
