LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Three members of the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team were named Thursday as All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division performers in voting by the division's head coaches.
Senior
Kayla Blackburn, SRU's all-time leader in career wins with 191, was named to all-conference honors as both a singles and doubles player for the fourth consecutive season.
Junior
Laura Handy garnered all-conference honors in singles competition for the third time in her collegiate career, while junior
Jessica Hilborn earned her initial All-PSAC-West honor as a doubles player.
The trio of all-conference performers led The Rock to a 22-5 record in dual matches during the 2008-09 season. The Green and White also finished second in NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional competition and placed third in the PSAC Team Championships.
The Rock, under the tutelage of head coach
Matt Meredith, finished the season with a No. 34 national ranking after being ranked 27th at the end of the fall portion of the schedule.
SRU has appeared in each of the last three NCAA tournaments and eight of the last 10.
