Rock men's soccer standouts Jeremy Deighton, Greg Blum and Patrick Conley will all play in elite level collegiate development leagues this summer
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A trio of Slippery Rock University men’s soccer players will represent The Rock as members of elite level collegiate development leagues this summer.
Jeremy Deighton and
Greg Blum have signed to play with the Erie Admirals and
Patrick Conley will join the West Virginia Chaos.
Deighton and Blum will spend their summers playing for the Erie Admirals of the National Premier Soccer League, which consists of 11 teams located along the east coast.
Deighton led The Rock in 2008 with 16 goals and two assists for 34 points on the season. He registered 50 shots on goal and scored seven game-winning markers.
Blum tallied over 1,800 minutes in goal for SRU last fall and recorded a 12-6 overall record, allowing 23 goals and recording 103 saves. He finished the season with a 1.13 goals against average and a save percentage of .817.
The Admirals opened their season over the weekend with a 2-0 win over the Pocono Snow. Deighton scored both goals in the win and head coach John Melody praised him after the game by saying “Jeremy’s one of the best Division II players I’ve seen in a long time.”
Conley will play for the West Wirginia Chaos of the Premier Development League, which consists of more than 60 teams located throughout the country. The Chaos are part of the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference, which consists of 16 teams spread across three divisions.
Conley was sixth in scoring for The Rock last season, finishing with four goals and one assist for nine points and also netting two game-winners.
