The Rock goes 1-1 on day two of the Atlantic Region crossover

Indiana, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team finished day two of the Atlantic Region crossover weekend hosted by Indiana (Pa.) 1-1 with a 3-0 win over Goldey-Beacom and a 3-1 loss to Shepherd. 

In the first game, The Rock compiled a .400 team attack percentage to the Lightning’s -.026, en route to a straight set, 25-9, 25-9, 25-10 victory. 

Junior Keira Peoples led all players with eight kills on 13 attempts and a solo block. Sophomore Alexa Erossy added six kills on 14 attempts. Senior Stacey Domer led The Rock with 10 digs and three aces. Juniors Anna Bixler and Kim Wilson combined for 33 assists. 

In the second game, The Rock lost the first two games, 25-19, 25-21. Battling back with 15 kills, SRU took the third set, 25-20. The fourth set was tied at 27, when the Rams recorded two consecutive kills to win the set 29-27, and the game 3-1. 

Freshman Hannah McShea led The Rock with 15 kills on 39 attempts, 14 digs and added an ace. Sophomore Kaylee Smith added 14 kills in three games. Bixler led all players with 29 assists, while Domer recorded 14 digs and a game high four aces. 

The Rock returns to action on Friday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover weekend hosted by Indiana (Pa.) against Shippensburg at 12 pm and Millersville at 5 pm.
