SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie against Lock Haven Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division contest at Thompson Stadium.
The Rock finished the game with a 23-6 advantage in total shots, including a 7-1 margin during the two overtime periods, but could not find the game-winner.
Slippery Rock scored first when
Alison Hindley made a long run down the left side of the field and beat Lock Haven keeper Kim Bentley on a breakaway in the 38th minute.
Lock Haven tied the game in the 60th minute when Carly D'Orsaneo scored into an empty net after a long free kick from Jessie Cox was batted away by Rock keeper
Sarah Lacy.
Lacy finished the game with a total of three saves in the game as Lock Haven did not record a shot on goal in either overtime period. Bentley finished with six saves, including one in each of the overtime sessions.
The Rock finished the game with advantages of 23-6 in total shots, 7-4 in shots on goal and 10-3 in corner kicks.
With the tie, Slippery Rock moves to 5-3-2 overall and 3-3-2 in the PSAC-West. Lock Haven improves to 3-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play.
The Rock will not play on the weekend for the first time this season and is back in action Tuesday for a PSAC-West match at California (Pa.). Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
