SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania breezed to a 5-0 win Thursday afternoon over Shaw University of North Carolina in opening-day action of the NCAA Division II Atlantic 3 Regional tournament hosted by Slippery Rock University.
The fifth-seeded Crimson Hawks (17-8) received two forfeit wins (one each in doubles and singles action) before it won two doubles matches and one singles match to move into Friday's 3 p.m. regional semifinal against top-seeded Slippery Rock (19-5).
Shaw, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, concluded its season with a 22-5 record.
Second-seeded Bloomsburg (14-5) and third-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan (14-6) will meet in the other semifinal Friday (12 noon start).
