SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The 2010 Slippery Rock University Women's Athletics Golf Outing took place last Friday at the Pine Grove Golf Course in Grove City. The outing drew 33 foursomes and raised over $4,000 more than any previous year. An online photo gallery from the outing is now available.

“We had a great turnout Friday,” said Paul Lueken, director of athletics. “We want to thank all the sponsors and everyone that came out to play in the outing. It was one of the best-attended outings I've been to and it was by far the most successful we have had.”

Prior to Friday's outing, the top dollar amount raised for scholarships through the event was $13,631, set back in 2004. Friday's figures shattered that amount with a total of $17,819 raised through entry fees, sponsorships and raffles.

Lueken also enjoyed success on the course Friday as his foursome won the men's competition and scored on the bet the birdie hole. He was joined by Brian Crow, Bob Watson and John Abrams.

The women's competition was won by the foursome of Colleen Wright, Shelly Baker, Barb Kennard and Jamie Cochran.

This year's mixed winners were Dave Whiting and Jan Kasnevich.
