LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University redshirt sophomore running back
Akeem Satterfield was named Monday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division "Offensive Player of the Week."
Satterfield, a native of Erie and graduate of Cathedral Prep High School, earned the honor by rushing for 240 yards and four touchdowns last Thursday night in The Rock's 45-26 season-opening win over Merrimack (Mass.) College on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock.
Satterfield's rushing total was the 10th highest single-game mark in Rock history and the highest since Lamonte Coleman ran for 241 yards Sept. 17. 1994 against West Virginia Wesleyan.
Satterfield's rushing yardage and touchdown totals were also both the highest recorded by a PSAC player in the opening week of the season.
The Rock goes in search of a second straight win Saturday when it travels to Cheyney University in suburban Philadelphia for a 1 p.m. PSAC "crossover" game. The game will be broadcast live on WISR 680 AM and simulcast on the internet via the "Listen Live" link on www.rockathletics.com
