Forgotten Angels Memorial Garden
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University Athletes for Forgotten Angels group will build a memorial flower garden on campus to celebrate the memories of members of the campus community that have lost a battle with cancer.

The Athletes for Forgotten Angels group, which has done large-scale community service projects in Haiti, New Orleans and St. Lucia in the last three years, will refocus the group's mission toward more local community service projects this year, beginning with the memorial flower garden at Morrow Field House.

“This group has done amazing things for so many people since its inception,” said head women's soccer coach Noreen Herlihy, who advises the group. “We are very pleased to be doing something on campus this year that will be able to touch so many people here at Slippery Rock.”

The group will be selling phlox, sedum, butterfly bushes and daffodils for $25 and a crabapple tree for $180. The total approximate cost of the garden with be $1,000 and plans are being made to install the garden in May. All flowers for the garden will be purchased at Cottage Garden Nursery in Hermitage, Pa.

Anyone wishing to purchase flowers in memory of a loved one can contact Herlihy at 724.738.2946 or via e-mail at noreen.herlihy@sru.edu.
