SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University sports information office will offer a new generation of live statistics for the remaining home basketball games this season, beginning with Saturday's doubleheader against Edinboro. The traditional live stats will also remain available.
The traditional live stats run using Flash and include player photos, links to player bios, team and individual statistics and a viewable play-by-play.
The new version of live stats, which will be denoted on the schedule pages as 'Live Analytical Stats' will be less flashy and will not include photos and links, but will include much more information in a fully sortable format.
The new stats play-by-play tab will be sortable by half, team, individual player, play type and play result. Along the top of the play-by-play tab, sortable drop down menus are easily used to navigate through the data.
For example, if you wanted to know every location that Slippery Rock made a 3-pointer in the first half, you would select the first half, select Slippery Rock, select all players, select 3-pointers and select made in the result column. The system will instantly generate a report of every made 3-pointer by SRU in that half.
Say you wanted to just know how many 3-pointers an individual player made, you would simply change the select all players option to the player in question and the report would instantly be generated.
Along with the sortable play-by-play feature, the live analytical stats will always display the time of the last made field goal for each team along the top of the scoreboard, and will also display the bonus and double bonus when they are reached.
On top of those additions, a new tab for game information has been added that will show each team's record and the names of the officiating crew that is calling the game, along with any pertinent game notes.
Changes also occur on the summary, team stats and individual stat pages as well. Additional stat categories have been added to all the above tabs that will show points in the paint, points off turnovers, second chance points, fast break points and bench points. The individual stat pages will also show breakout stats for players, including points per minute and a rebounding breakdown.
The new statistics, which will be available for Saturday's games against Edinboro, can be accessed by using the links at the top of this page. The links have also been placed on the Live Stats landing page that is accessed by clicking the button on the Rock Athletics home page, along with on both the men's and women's basketball schedule pages. Lastly, the link will be available by clicking the 'Click Here for Live Analytics' button on the traditional live stats page.
