LOVELAND, Colo. – The Colorado Ice of the Indoor Football League announced Wednesday former Slippery Rock University standout
Cody Endres had signed a contract to play for the team.
Endres played only one season for The Rock but left an indelible mark. He completed 220 of 374 passes for 2,551 yards, all of which were school-record totals, and 21 touchdowns, the second-highest mark in school history.
Behind Endres' lead, The Rock compiled an 8-3 overall win-loss record and a 6-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division competition that earned the Green and White their first division championship since 2000 and their first berth in the PSAC Championship Game since 1974.
A native of Washington, Pa., and graduate of Trinity High School, Endres ranks eighth in both career passing yards and career passing TDs despite only playing one season at SRU.
Endres began his collegiate career at Division I UConn, where he completed 182 of 313 passes for 2,236 passing yards and 11 passing touchdowns.
“We are excited and happy for Cody and proud of him becoming a professional player,” Rock Head Football Coach
George Mihalik said. “Cody has experience playing on the Division I level and he had a great year with us, so I definitely think he has the talent to play on the pro level.”
The Ice will play their home games on Majestic Roofing Field at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, which is located near Fort Collins.
The IFL was formed in 2003 as a six-team league in Texas and has enjoyed tremendous growth in the last 10 year. There are currently 17 IFL teams located throughout the nation, including two in eastern Pennsylvania (Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and Reading Express).
