Rock men to host Ohio Eastern Tuesday

Slippery Rock will open the home portion of its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. tip against Ohio University Eastern.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team will open the home portion of its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday night against Ohio University Eastern in non-conference action with a 7 p.m. tip at Morrow Field House.

LAST TIME OUT
• Slippery Rock bounced back from a season-opening loss to No. 7 Wheeling Jesuit last Friday night by defeating Shepherd 57-55 Saturday evening. Kyree Wooten knocked down a jumper with 3.6 seconds left to provide the winning points.
 
ROCK NOTES
• Slippery Rock is unbeaten in the tenure of head coach Kevin Reynolds when facing opponents outside of NCAA Divisions I and II.
 
• Slippery Rock has been superior against non-conference opponents under Reynolds with a 66-26 (.717) record in non-league games.
 
• Slippery Rock compiled a superior +19 rebounding margin (84-65) in its two exhibition games against Division I teams. SRU outrebounded the University of Tennessee 44-35 and Central Michigan University 40-30. The Rock were +9 on the glass in the first two games of the regular season.
 
• Khyree Wooten led SRU in both of the first two games of the year and is the only Rock player averaging double figures through two games at 13.0 points per game. He also pulled down 3.5 rebounds per game and handed our four total assists while shooting 55.0 percent from the field.
 
• All nine players that have seen action in the first two games have at least three total rebounds and eight of the nine players are averaging at least 2.0 boards per game. George Chase leads the way on the glass with 7.0 rebounds per game and also averages 6.5 points per game.
 
• Naquil Jones is averaging 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, while Christal Malalu is averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 board per game and Merdic Green is chipping in 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.

• Ohio Eastern plays in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference, which features most of the branch campuses of Ohio University. The Bobcats were scheduled to open their season last Sunday at Ohio University Lancaster.
