Today marked the second time in just over a week Lou Trivino was, for good reason, the subject of a

Click here to read the latest update on the lanky right-hander, who’s in his first season as a professional baseball pitcher.
The 11th-round draft pick of the Oakland Athletics in last month’s amateur baseball draft isn’t the only player with a Rock connection competing in summer baseball action, though. Here’s an update on other Rock baseball players competing this summer. Please note: All averages are as of today (Sunday).
• We will, of course, start with the “big boy,”
Matt Adams. The former national Player of the Year for The Rock is hitting .309 with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 26 RBIs for the Major League Baseball St. Louis Cardinals.
Remember, Rock Nation, Adams and the Redbirds will be at PNC Park for a five-game series against the Pirates July 29 through Aug. 1 that will play a huge role in the teams’ quest for the National League Central Division championship and postseason berths.
• Rock senior shortstop
Will Kengor (left) leads the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League in bases on balls with 28 and ranks fifth hitting with a .330 average after 32 games with the Rockville Express. A member of the North team in the CRCBL’s July 17 all-star game, Kengor has recorded eight doubles, two triples and eight RBIs this summer. What makes his performance even more impressive is the fact he began the season with only two hits in his first 17 at bats for a .118 batting average.
• Rock right-handed pitcher
John Kovalik is also having a good summer with Rockville. He has a 2-0 record with a 1.50 ERA and six saves in 10 appearances as a relief specialist. Kovalik has struck out 11 batters and walked seven in 12 innings pitched.
• A third Rock player on the Rockville roster, senior catcher
Kevin Jovanovich is hitting .266 with three doubles and 12 RBIs.
• Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher
Geoff Sanner is 1-1 with one save, 4.43 ERA, 16 strikeouts and 12 bases on balls in 22-plus innings for the Shelter Island Bucks of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League based in New York.
• Former Rock pitcher
Scott Dunn is 5-4 with a 3.22 ERA, 63 strikeouts and 23 bases on balls in 73 innings pitched for the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League (semi-pro).
• Former Rock outfielder
Matt Howard is hitting .222 with two doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBIs in 19 games with the Beach Bums.
That’s all for now. Until next time …
GO ROCK!!
