Jonathan Cox starred for the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team from 1988-91.
Cox, who was a team captain for The Rock as a junior and senior, enjoyed a highly decorated career at Slippery Rock. He was a three-time first team All-PSAC honoree (1989-91) and a three-time All-Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Soccer Conference (WPISC) honorable mention selection (1989-91).
Off the field, Cox received more recognition. A four-time PSAC Scholar Athlete, Cox was the recipient of the Robert G. Lutz award in 1989 and the SRU Alumni Association Outstanding Senior Man award in 1992.
Cox went on to graduate magna cum laude from Slippery Rock in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in finance and as an Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate.
Following his time at Slippery Rock, Cox embarked on a military career in which he has been stationed at 11 posts over a 23-year span. From March 2003 – March 2004 Cox served as the commander of the 257th Transportation Company (HET) for the United States Army Reserve at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Cox, who also obtained his master's degree in leadership from Central Michigan University in 2009, has earned a vast array of honors for his many years of service including Airborne Wings, Army Reserves Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Joint Meritorious Medal and a Bronze Star.
Presently Cox serves a Joint Training Branch Chief for the United States Transportation Command at the Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois. Cox resides in O'Fallon, Illinois with his wife Kimberly and their three sons: Logan, Nathan and Evan.
