Before the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team competed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and NCAA Division II, SRU had an accomplished women's soccer club laying the foundation for what would later become one of the most successful programs in the nation. One of the key contributors to the club was Leslie Ahlborn.

Ahlborn was a part of the Slippery Rock women's soccer club from 1978-82. Her leadership with the group steadily grew throughout her time on campus as she was named the team's treasurer for the 1980-81 season and president during her senior year in 1981-82.

Since the completion of her bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 1982, the North Allegheny High School graduate has spent over 30 years teaching health and physical education in the state of New York.

Ahlborn has enjoyed great success on the New York prep soccer scene as the head coach at Monroe-Woodbury Central in Central Valley, New York. Since taking over the program in 1999, Ahlborn has compiled a stellar record of 213-66-16.

A two-time New York Section IX Coach of the Year, Ahlborn has led the Crusaders to 14 division championships, five Section IX crowns, two region titles and a pair of berths into the New York State Tournament semifinals.

Ahlborn is an active member of both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY). She obtained her master's degree in elementary education from SUNY-New Paltz in 1989.

Ahlborn resides in Otisville, New York. The daughter of Bill and Joan Ahlborn, she has four siblings: sisters Sandy Roderick, Jenifer Donnelly and Holly Ahlborn as well as a brother Mark Ahlborn.
