The youngest 2014 Slippery Rock Soccer Ring of Honor inductee,
Sarah Arsenault was a dynamic scorer who led The Rock women's soccer team to a 52-17-5 record from 2001-04, which at the time was the most wins in a four-year period in program history. Included in the 52 victories was the 2003 PSAC championship and a pair of NCAA Tournament berths.
Â
Arsenault made an immediate impact for Slippery Rock the moment she stepped on campus as evidenced by her being named the 2001 PSAC Rookie of the Year and being selected as a first team All-PSAC athlete all four years of her collegiate career. Arsenault was bestowed with the league's highest honor when she was picked as the PSAC Player of the Year in both 2003 and 2004.
Â
The Rome, New York native was also recognized for her exceptional play outside of the PSAC by earning NSCAA first team all-region accolades three times (2001, 2003, 2004) and NSCAA first team All-America recognition as a junior in 2003.
Â
A team captain as a junior and senior, Arsenault concluded her time at Slippery Rock having totaled 161 points off of 70 goals and 21 assists in what was arguably the best career by an SRU women's soccer player. She still holds Slippery Rock records for career points and career goals while also ranking fifth in career assists.
Â
After her playing days at Slippery Rock ended, Arsenault went on to play professionally for the Steel City Sparks of the Women's Premiere Soccer League before embarking on a coaching career in which she has served as the head coach at Salem International University (2007) as well assistant positions at Hamilton College (2008-10) and Waynesburg University (2010-12).
Â
Most recently, Arsenault was named the head coach at SUNY-Canton prior to the start of the 2013 season. Since taking over the Kangaroos' program, Arsenault has compiled a 10-14-3 and guided the team's transition from competing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association to NCAA Division III.
Â
Arsenault graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management from Slippery Rock in 2006 and also received her master's in human resources management and services from Waynesburg in 2012. She currently resides in Massena, New York.
